The Hunt Begins: Tracking 200 Doctor Doom Comic Cuts
Inside the quest to document every 1/1 card from the 2025 Topps Marvel Mint set
The 2025 Topps Marvel Mint Doctor Doom Comic Cuts represent something unprecedented in the trading card hobby. Two hundred unique 1/1 cards, each containing an actual piece of a vintage Doctor Doom comic book, embedded directly into the card. No two are alike. No reprints. No parallels. Just 200 singular pieces of comic book history, scattered across boxes worldwide.
When we launched Rise of Doom, the mission was simple: find them all. Document every single card. Build the definitive archive. What we didn't expect was how quickly the community would rally behind the project — and how challenging the hunt would actually be.
As of today, we've identified and cataloged 73 of the 200 cards. That's 37% of the complete set. Each card has been photographed, sourced, and added to our gallery with details about the comic panel it contains, the character featured, and where it was discovered — whether from eBay listings, collector submissions, or break videos.
The earliest cards surfaced on eBay within days of the product's release. Card #1 featured a classic Fantastic Four panel with Doctor Doom in his iconic green cloak and metallic mask. Within the first week, we'd tracked down nearly 30 cards through a combination of eBay sold listings, active auctions, and tips from collectors who recognized what they had.
Pricing has been volatile, as you'd expect with a brand-new product category. Initial boxes were selling for around $200, but as word spread about the quality and scarcity of the Comic Cuts, prices surged. Today, boxes are trading between $500 and $800 — and individual cards have sold for anywhere from $50 to $12,000 depending on the character and panel.

The most valuable cards tend to feature iconic characters in recognizable scenes. A Silver Surfer Comic Cut listed at $3,000 drew massive attention. An Iron Man panel hit $12,000. But even lesser-known panels carry significant value simply because of the 1/1 nature — there will never be another copy of any of these cards.
Our gallery now features a full 200-slot grid. The 73 discovered cards sit in their numbered positions, while the remaining 127 slots display unique comic-style placeholder cards with messages like 'M.I.A.', 'WANTED', 'HIDING IN LATVERIA', and 'STILL IN THE BOX'. Each placeholder is different — a small detail, but one that reinforces the treasure-hunt nature of this project.
We've also built a submission system for the community. If you've pulled a Comic Cut that isn't in our archive, you can submit photos of the front and back of the card along with proof of ownership. We review every submission and add verified cards to the gallery. It's a collaborative effort — no single person could track all 200 cards alone.
The road ahead is long. 127 cards remain undiscovered — or at least undocumented. Some are sitting in collections, unrecognized for what they are. Others are still sealed in boxes that haven't been opened yet. And some may not surface for months or even years.
But that's what makes this project exciting. Every new discovery adds to the archive. Every submission from a collector fills another slot. And slowly, card by card, the complete picture of this historic set comes into focus. The hunt continues.
